The Florida Postal Museum, Inc. is a not-for-profit
organization which depends on volunteers to help meet its goals; there
are no paid employees. Having a dependable volunteer staff is the
backbone of the Museum’s very existence. We, the Board of Directors,
view volunteers as our number one resource, and it is our commitment
to treat our volunteers with respect and dignity.
Volunteer assignments cover the entire spectrum. There
is maintaining , creating, or modifying one of our many collections
which would include stamps (both U.S. and foreign), postmarks, covers,
and postal history. There is maintenance, creation, and rotation of
our many displays. There is inventory control of our over 1,250 items.
And in addition to these, there is a contract postal unit which will
needs volunteers there daily.
Above and beyond this, volunteers may help in acquisition
of materials for the Museum, in transportation, in the gift shop,
in the Museum library, etc., etc. It is easy to see that the list
is virtually endless. And if there is something that appears to be
left out, please make any recommendation that you feet is proper.
Just because the Museum is located in the state of Florida
does not mean that our volunteers have to live close by. “You
are as close as a telephone or computer hook-up”. Many tasks
accomplished by volunteers may be done wherever they may happen to
live.
This is “your” Museum; please volunteer!
