The Florida Postal Museum was created as a means of expression of
preserving Postal History. A group of seven individuals, all with
a similar interest in postal history, pooled their respective talents
and established a not-for-profit corporation. With the help of volunteers,
committees, and other outside organizations,
their vision will be met, and most likely, exceeded.
Many organizations have either directly or indirectly
influenced and / or dictated the path that the Florida Postal Museum
has traveled. First and foremost would be the 1876
Heritage Inn, LLC, in Orange City, FL , without whose generous
assistance there would be no Museum. The 1876 Heritage Inn is a historic
building where the Museum presently resides; we, the Board of Directors,
intend to work very closely with the Heritage Inn as our Museum develops.
Another resource to which the Museum is indebted is
the U.S. Postal Service
. We presently enjoy a good, working relationship with the Postal
Service and often assist them with special events and shows. For collectible
stamps, The American Philatelic Society.
(A.P.S.) is far and wide the leading source of information. The
world leader in postal cancellations and postmarks is the Postmark
Collector’s Club, which has an impressive Museum in Ohio.
Florida Postal Museum works very closely with this organization. And
last, but not least, is the Marshall,
MI Post Office and US Postal Museum and the Museum
of Postal History in Delphos, OH . Both of these are well established
and have worked with us in the past.
It is the working together of all of these groups that
results in The Florida Postal Museum becoming a world-class organization
of which we all can be proud.
